IOP Through Eyelid and Sclera with Diaton Tonometer Presented at the International Vision Expo West VEW, Las Vegas

1000's of Optometrists at the International Vision Expo West, #VEW have an opportunity to see and try first hand the worlds only through the eyelid and trans-scleral tonometer which allows to obtain IOP independent of the corneal biomechanics.  Tonometer DIATON is an ultimate solution for children and adults, even patients wearing contact lenses can get accurately screened.  Diaton tonometer pen is handheld, non-contact (no contact with cornea), latex-free (no tips or covers), painless tonometer.

Rule breaking Non-Corneal Diaton tonometry opens new doors to optometrists and other eye care professionals to evaluate intraocular pressure (IOP) for glaucoma THROUGH THE EYELID. Diaton tonometer is effective in obtaining IOP measurements for many challenging patient populations and children.

Diaton Tonometer provides quick, painless and reliable measurements and makes it possible to diagnose glaucoma in its early stages, allowing users to devise an appropriate care and treatment plan. Diaton is effective in obtaining IOP measurements for many challenging patient populations, including: those with chronic conjunctivitis, erosions, edema and corneal dimness; people who have undergone corneal surgeries; and immobilized patients and children. Also, patients do not need to remove their contact lenses.

Presenting Diaton tonometer at International Vision Expo West VEW at Sands Casino and Resort, Las Vegas is a great opportunity to showcase unique non-corneal and non-contact capabilities of this new tonometry technology to thousands of optometrists and other eye care professionals.

Diaton Tonometer will be showcased in BOOTH # LP5066 by Optimetrics Inc. Florida’s largest Hispanic Ophthalmic Leader. With well over 20 years of experience providing quality, new and used ophthalmic equipment and supplies to ophthalmologists, optometrists and optical retailers. Located in Miami; one of the largest exporting and importing ports of the United States Optimetric offers the latest technology in equipment available today. State of the art showroom displays a variety of products ranging from a simple bulb to a visual field analyzer, chairs and stands, autorefractors, corneal topographers and much, much more.

The founder, Amado Diaz Jr, was the youngest ophthalmic dealer in the country when he started Optimetrics, Inc. His training and experience cover a wide globe of suppliers in the ophthalmic industry from companies like Haag-Streit, Topcon, Marco, Diaton, BiCOM, Humphreys, Carl Zeiss, Sonomed, Tomey, Katena, RH Burton, Welch Allyn, HGM Laser, Canon, Nikon, AIT, Essilor, Vision-Ease and many others.

Unlike Goldmann / Contact tonometry which is based on the Imbert–Fick law and is effected by CCT and other corneal parameters and corneal diseases, where small area of the membrane is flattened to measure pressure of the internal fluid.  Evidence shows that variations in CCT may greatly influence Goldmann tonometry reading.  Parameters such as membrane elasticity, rigidity and other biomechanical properties can influence the accuracy of the intraocular pressure readings.

Diaton Non-corneal tonometry solves most of the corneal measurement issues by implementing Newton’s Second Law and a Ballistic principle to obtain IOP.  Readings with Diaton Tonometer are taken over the upper eyelid, at the tarsus and over the sclera, Not through the cornea.
Tonometer Diaton is the perfect solution in the following cases when the use of other devices is problematic or impossible:

· Mass screening of patients.
· IOP control during clinical observation and selection of adequate hypotensive therapy for glaucoma patients.
· Serial tonometry for obtaining Diurinal curve.
· IOP can be obtained without removing contact lenses.
· IOP measuring in immobilized patients – measurement can be done sitting or supine.
· IOP measuring in children. Measurement is taken outside of the visual field.
· Patients with the following conditions: chronic conjunctivitis, corneal pathology including keratitis, keratotone, corneal dimness, after penetrating keratoplastics, keratoprosthesis, laser refractive correction, high degree of ametropy, astigmatism.
· On patients with medicinal allergies.
· Lasik / LASEK / PRK (Diaton can be used for IOP measurement right after these surgeries)

Diaton Tonometer provides quick, painless and accurate measurements and makes it possible to diagnose glaucoma in its early stages, allowing users to devise an appropriate care and treatment plan. Diaton is effective in obtaining IOP measurements for many challenging patient populations, including: those with chronic conjunctivitis, erosions, edema and corneal dimness; people who have undergone corneal surgeries; post Boston Keratoprosthesis (KPro) and immobilized patients and children. Also, patients do not need to remove their contact lenses for glaucoma IOP screening.

Diaton tonometer is clinically proven and has FDA, CE, Health Canada and other international approvals.
